Nice to meet you

Thank you for considering me for your therapist. It is truly an honor to assist each and every individual, couple, and family that elects to work with me. My clients can trust that I am fully motivated to responsibly guide and accompany them on their healing journey within themselves and within this modern and often extraordinarily chaotic world.

I received my Bachelors in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin (a prestigious program that was ranked 3rd in the nation at the time) with a Minor in Conflict Resolution and Peace Studies. Later, I earned my Masters in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington with a concentration in clinical studies right in the wake of the COVID epidemic. I am now motivated to only continue my education and training so that I can improve the quality of my clients' lives. With that said, I am joyfully bound and committed to the NASW Code of Ethics.

This constellation of core values reflects what is noteworthy about the social work profession. Core values, strongly committed to nondiscrimination and respect for each individual's autonomy plus the principles of integrity that flow from them, must be balanced within the context and complexity of the human experience.

As a counselor with my social work background, I have not only studied the mind, I have worked in various arenas with unique individuals from all walks of life. I have over 10 years experience working in Texas in Dallas, Austin, and New Braunfels within various social work arenas including the Travis County Correctional Complex, Front Steps, Safe Alliance, and Dallas Metrocare Services, among many other places. I have met clients in hospitals, shelters (survivors of abuse as well as homeless individuals often suffering addiction), schools, jails and detention centers, courtrooms, in their homes, and in the streets. I truly believe that this experience has afforded me a different and vital kind of education that greatly enhances my accreditation via academia.

Also, personally, I have fought many painful battles ever since I was child, including trauma of being an only child raised in an emotionally neglectful and dismissive family with the loss of one parent to death and another to abandonment, severe judgment and estrangement due to resisting an emotionally vacant marriage and embracing my bisexuality, and narcissistic emotional abuse and betrayal in past relationships from family members to significant others. With all of this, I too struggled with suicidal ideation throughout my teens and young adulthood. After years of intense work emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and physically, I am so grateful to have finally found joy and peace in my life and learned how to establish and better maintain positive long-lasting relationships.

Finally, in addition to my counseling and social work licensure, I am a certified yoga teacher and formally initiated sacred circle facilitator. My training and growing experience has led me to become rather adept at assisting clients in developing their mind/body connection, which is often where much of our faulty programming and trauma has become interwoven. I'm also a certified mediator, which has afforded me the opportunity to become acquainted with nonviolent communication to find common ground and facilitate truly successful negotiations.

I sincerely look forward to meeting and supporting you!
